What to do in Vila Olímpia: the neighborhood guide

Vila Olímpia, São Paulo, the neighborhood where You Stay apartments are

Vila Olímpia is known as a business district, and it is. But anyone who stays here finds that, outside office hours, the area is one of the most pleasant in São Paulo to walk, eat well and unwind. This is a practical guide to what to do in the neighborhood during your stay.

Green and open air

Despite all the towers, Vila Olímpia has great outdoor options.

  • Parque do Povo: the neighborhood’s green space, perfect for a morning walk or run, with a track, room for sport and a view of the local skyline. It sits right across from JK Iguatemi.
  • Parque Ibirapuera: the city’s most famous park is a few minutes away. It is worth saving a weekend morning for the museums, the lake and the rest areas.

Shopping and cinema

  • JK Iguatemi mall: the neighborhood’s upscale mall, on Avenida Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek, with international brands, a cinema and a food court well above average.
  • Shopping Vila Olímpia: more everyday, with a cinema, shops and restaurants, great for a quiet evening close to home.

Eating and drinking

Vila Olímpia and neighboring Itaim Bibi form one of the best dining hubs in São Paulo. There is a bit of everything: a casual bar for an end-of-day beer, pasta and steak houses, top-level Japanese food, and bars that fill up during the week with the crowd leaving the Faria Lima offices. You will not run out of options a few minutes on foot.

Work and getting around

If the trip is for work, Avenida Faria Lima and Berrini are right next door, packed with offices, banks and good cafés for an informal meeting. The Vila Olímpia station, on line 9 of the CPTM, connects the neighborhood to the rest of the city, and Congonhas airport is about 15 minutes away.

Where to stay to enjoy all of it

Being inside the neighborhood changes the experience: you do everything on foot or with short trips. You Stay runs renovated apartments inside two hotels in Vila Olímpia, the ITC Vila Olímpia, at Rua Fidêncio Ramos 420, and the Hotel The World Vila Olímpia, at Rua Gomes de Carvalho 1005. In both you get 24-hour reception, a pool, sauna, gym and the space of a full apartment.
